What Data We Process

When you visit this website, technical access data may be processed to deliver the site and keep it secure. This can include IP address, date and time of access, requested URL, referrer, browser, operating system, and similar server log data.

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we process the first name and email address you submit. If you contact us by email, we process your message and contact details to answer your request.

Purposes and Legal Bases

• Website delivery, security, and error diagnosis: legitimate interests under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
• Anonymous usage statistics (Vercel Web Analytics): legitimate interests under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in understanding which pages and features are used, so we can improve the site.
• Newsletter and course update emails: consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
• Contact requests: legitimate interests or pre-contractual communication under Art. 6(1)(f) and Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Newsletter Emails

You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails at any time. After withdrawal, we stop sending those emails and delete or block the related data unless legal retention duties require otherwise.

Cookies and Analytics

This site does not use cookies. It stores two things in your browser, only to provide features you use: your light or dark theme choice (local storage) and your last view of the skills table, so “Back to skills” returns to it (session storage, deleted when you close the tab).

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and clicks on the share buttons. It works without cookies and stores nothing on your device. Visitors are told apart by a hash of the request that changes every day, so you cannot be recognized across days or across other websites. The statistics include the page visited, the referring page, browser, operating system, device type and country. You can block them with any common content blocker.

Processors and Transfers

The following providers process data on our behalf:

• Vercel Inc., USA: hosting of this website, server logs and Vercel Web Analytics.
• Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), USA: sending the newsletter and managing subscribers.

Transfers to these providers in the USA are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (an adequacy decision of the European Commission) and on EU standard contractual clauses. Other providers outside the EU/EEA are only used where such a valid legal mechanism applies.

Retention

Server log data is kept only as long as needed for operation and security. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or the newsletter purpose no longer applies. Contact emails are kept as long as needed to handle the request and any related legal obligations.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you may have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. You can exercise these rights by contacting contact@lukaslechner.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Austria, this is the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
